Construction Material, Concrete & Lumber

The Recycling Center strives to recycle as many materials as possible. Unfortunately, because of the bulk and labor involved with processing, some items have a small fee attached to them.

Construction and Demolition Material

Construction and demolition material are accepted at the Recycling Center at a cost of $50.00 per ton. There is a $5.00 minimum charge which covers approximately 200 pounds. Construction and demolition material include drywall, carpeting, roofing, siding, lumber or vinyl and railroad ties. Home furnishings and entertainment items are also accepted as construction and demolition material.

Lumber, Concrete and Rubble

Loads of clean lumber are charged at a rate of $24.00 per ton. Clean lumber includes unpainted construction lumber and lumber with no roofing, spikes, laminate or drywall attached to it. Clean lumber may, however, have nails in it. Loads of only concrete and rubble are accepted at the Recycling Center at a rate of $24.00 per ton with a $5.00 minimum. Mixed loads containing lumber, rubble or any other items are charged at the construction debris rate (see above). Any loads containing regular garbage, such as food items, clothing, small toys, fecal matter, etc., are subject to a $20.00 surcharge per load on top of the regular fee to defer the cost of hauling it to the landfill. The Recycling Center Staff sorts out recyclable items and contamination and sends the remainder to a construction debris landfill. Lumber is ground into wood mulch and used as landscape mulch and animal bedding.
