Solid Waste Management DivisionAppliance Disposal Pricing![]() The Recycling Center strives to recycle as many materials as possible. Unfortunately, because of the bulk and labor involved with processing, some items have a small fee attached to them. Large household appliances, such as hot water heaters, microwaves, stoves, washers and metal bathtubs, are recycled at a cost of only $5.00 per unit. Appliances that contain, or have ever contained, Freon, such as air conditioners, freezers and refrigerators, are accepted at a cost of $12.00 per unit to help cover the cost of safe disposal. Recycling Center Staff are licensed to recapture Freon. After this occurs, the oil is also drained out of the appliance, tested for contamination and disposed of properly, along with any capacitors. Serial numbers are then recorded to certify proper disposal for the EPA. Commercial establishments will be charged $8.00 for non-Freon appliances while appliances with Freon will be charged $15.00 per unit. Appliance Disposal Pricing effective January 1, 2005
